About

Hanawa Neputa is a star festival exists in Hanawa area. During the festival, ten 5 meter-high lanterns and 2 meter-high Japanese drums are paraded around the town. The lanterns are rectangle-shaped and traditionally depict powerful warriors. On the last day of the festival, the festival reaches its climax called Nemuri Nagashi: the lanterns line up on Inamura bridge over Yoneshiro river, burn themselves with fire, and finally float on the river all together.
